I can safely say throughout my stint as a surgeon, that in spite of all of the day-to-day challenge, I love surgery. The challenge of curing patients while relying upon artistry has always served as an inspiration to me.

That being said, there are a few things about the Operating Room and Operating Room culture that can be improved.

The surgical cap represents only one small area, but I can attest to the traditional cap(s) causing discomfort throughout the Operating Rooms. Most surgeons and other practitioners who are required to wear the cap probably don't give it much thought, but when asked to think about it, their replies will all be the same: "Yes, please! Make me a cool, comfortable hat!!"
